Just east of Vancouver, resides a small town that is home to the world’s largest concentrated winter eagle gathering. The raptors are drawn to the area by the spawning salmon, attracting tens of thousands of wintering bald
eagles to the general area. In December they take their pick of the less energetic fish as they are finishing their life cycle.
But the salmon's misfortune is the photographer's gain. You will see hundreds to potentially a few thousand eagles in the area with the opportunity to capture shots of eagles soaring, fighting, fishing and nesting. One tree alone could easily contain close to a hundred eagles at any given time.

Yellowstone is certainly one national park that mystifies visitors and offers a wonderful and fascinating playground for the photographer. Even more so in winter. The only way into Yellowstone in the Winter is with a commercial snow coach or snowmobile tour company.....so the tourists are MINIMAL!! Plus, animals are much easier to spot and really stand out from their usual surroundings. Then add a layer of snow on their coats and you'll get images like no other.
This workshop will involve three days in our own private snow coach with our driver helping spot wildlife and steering us to amazing scenic areas as well. We will explore most of the mid to southern part of the park on the snow coach for the first 3 days and then spend a day and a half based on the north end in Gardiner, MT exploring the road through the Lamar Valley to Cooke City. We will also take some time to play in the Mammoth Springs area.

Death Valley is the HOTTEST, the DRIEST and the LOWEST place in the National Park System. But do not mistake that to mean that is isn't one of the most BEAUTIFUL of the national parks. Death Valley is frequently referred to as The Land of Extremes, but don't let the name fool you. From snow covered peaks in the distance to around 300 feet BELOW sea level, this place is a photographer's paradise.
