Coast of Maine-York to Acadia-Sept 4-10, 2024

Tuition $2600 for 7 days - Only 5 participants!

(Meals, lodging and rental car and airfare are the participant's responsibility.)

If you haven't experienced the coast of Maine then you are missing out! The sounds, the colors, the smells and especially the tastes are an absolute feast for the senses. And it makes for some great photography too!! Join us on a PHOTO-feast from the southernmost part of Maine up to Acadia National Park.  We are heading to Maine in early September, not for the fall color, but for the better weather and more reasonable temperatures this time around.

This one is an 7-day extravaganza of photography.  Starting in York on the 4th, this workshop will put you at Maine's top 3 most popular and photogenic lighthouses at both sunrise and sunset....you will have the absolute best opportunity to photograph these iconic locations in the best light possible.  You will also get a chance to shoot 3 more lighthouses on our way up the coast - so SIX total!!

Cancellation:  The last day to cancel this workshop and receive a refund is April 1, 2023.

The workshop will then take a well-deserved rest in beautiful and quaint Camden, Maine where we will photograph the town, harbor reflections, an expansive overlook and take a sunset ride on a charterd boat for just our group!!

Then we end up in Bar Harbor to experience the town and the photographic highlights of Acadia National Park.

You will get an exciting variety of photography on this workshop. From picturesque little towns to working harbors and jagged coasts to serene colorful sunsets - we will shoot it all!

**Cancellation Policy - Understand that on our longer trips where most people have to make extensive travel plans in order to join us, our cancellation policy is slightly more strict.  On this workshop, the last day for you to cancel for a refund is April 1, 2023.  After this date, there will be no refunds unless we can fill your position with someone from the wait list. For this reason WE STRONGLY ENCOURAGE YOU TO PURCHASE TRIP INSURANCE TO PROTECT YOURSELF AND YOUR INVESTMENT.

Airport:

We suggest flying round-trip in and out of Portland, ME as there are cheaper and more flights than trying to fly into Bangor.....although rental cars tend to be cheaper in Bangor.  But it is up to you....we start in York south of Portland and end up in Bar Harbor just east of Bangor.

PLEASE NOTE:  Please do not book a flight leaving out of Portland on the 11th any earlier than 2pm.  The workshop ends around 8:30am on the 11th and it is a 3 1/2 hour drive to Portland if there is no traffic.

Marshall point lighthouse, bristol, maine, acadia, photography workshop, photo class, photo tour

 Car Rental:

Each participant is responsible for their transportation to, from and during the workshop.  Some people choose to go in together on a car rental to save money. We generally require some carpooling during the workshop anyway, so you may want to consider sharing the cost with someone else.

Several car rental companies exist at both Portland and Bangor airports.

 For This Workshop

Weather - This workshop could take you through many shooting environments, so be prepared for whatever the weather may bring. Dress in layers with comfortable shoes with good tread. Be sure to have rain gear for you and your camera and lots of warm clothing for early morning shoots.  Hats, gloves, scarves and a wind proof coat may be necessary on this trip......especially on Cadillac Mountain.

Conditions - This workshop isn't one of our more difficult workshops, physically speaking.  All of the lighthouses may be photographed from a good vantage point with ease.  With that said, some photographers are more daring than others and may want to climb around on rocky shorelines for different vantage points.  This is fine, but completely at their will according to their ability.  We caution against this for safety reasons.  But it is up to the individual photographer.

Accessories - We do not 'require' that you purchase any specific equipment for this workshop.  With that said, you REALLY do need a polarizer for EVERY lens you plan to use on the trip.  If you do not wish to purchase a polarizer for each lens, then consider purchasing one for your largest lens opening and then purchasing step down ring adapters to fit it to your other lenses.  If you are not familiar with a polarizer and have questions, let us know.  We will be happy to help.  Also, you may want to bring a neutral density filter if you would like to experiment with long exposures and moving water.  If you have a longer lens, bring it. You won't necessarily need it for wildlife, but it could come in handy on the boat trip for shooting other boats on the water.  Please be sure to contact us with any questions about these things.

Also, you will need a tripod on this trip.  Please let us know if you have any questions about tripods.
