British Columbia Eagles - December 2-5, 2025

Tuition $1795 - includes one AM private boat charter. See gallery below.

(Does not include airfare, lodging, rental car or gratuity.)

Just east of Vancouver, resides a small town that is home to the world’s largest concentrated winter eagle gathering. The raptors are drawn to the area by the spawning salmon, attracting tens of thousands of wintering bald
eagles to the general area.  In December they take their pick of the less energetic fish as they are finishing their life cycle.

But the salmon's misfortune is the photographer's gain, if you know where to look.  You will see hundreds of eagles in the area with the opportunity to capture shots of eagles soaring, fighting, fishing and nesting.

Another special treat is simply walking out of your room and seeing and hearing the eagles as they soar above you through the trees and call, chirp and chitter to each other.

Plus, one of our morning shoots will be from a chartered boat for an alternate angle of shooting.

You just don't get this kind of experience in very many places.

Photography technically starts on the 3rd, but everyone will need to fly in the the day before so we can get started on the evening of the 2nd with a 5:00 pm meeting. We then hit the ground running the next morning for photography.

We will finish up the workshop after our PM shoot on the 5th, with the morning of the 6th available for a make up shoot in case of bad weather.  Most people will choose to leave out the morning of the 6th to get to the airport.

Lodging

There are 2 options for lodging:

The workshop will be based out of the Sandpiper Resort, but the Sasquatch Inn is a nearby choice for more economical rooms.  The two properties are less than a mile apart.

NOTE:  both lodges are small, so make your reservations ASAP

For This Workshop

You will need a valid passport for this trip if you do not live Canada.

It can be cold in British Columbia in the winter, but not unbearably so.....likely 35-50 degrees. As long as you have proper layers and good gloves and boots you will be fine with the elements. It isn't even nearly as cold here as it can be other places where eagles gather.

You will need a long wildlife lens and a sturdy tripod and/or monopod.  Many participants choose to rent lenses if they feel they do not have the necessary gear for the trip. Please ask about any  questions about gear.
