Olympic National Park is on Washington's Olympic Peninsula in the Pacific Northwest. The park sprawls across several different ecosystems, from the dramatic peaks of the Olympic Mountains to old-growth forests.
With its incredible range of precipitation and elevation, diversity is the hallmark of Olympic National Park. Encompassing nearly a million acres, the park protects a vast wilderness, thousands of years of human history, and several distinctly different ecosystems. There will even be a side trip to the area's lavendar farms. This is an area of the country not to miss....and it should be on EVERY photographer's bucket list!
This workshop will be a 'traveling workshop' - meaning we will cover a lot of ground and stay in multiple hotels. We will also do a certain amount of hiking on this workshop. Although most of what we will do is fairly flat and easy, one hike will require about an 800 ft. ascent up stairs to get to a fabulous waterfall. Plan on hiking an average of 2-4 miles per day.
This workshop will start on Monday June 13th around 5pm and will end on Saturday the 18th by noon.
Cancellations: There will be no refunds for cancellation after January 1, 2022 - unless we have someone on the waitlist able to take your place. For this reason we strongly suggest looking into travel insurance for the non-refundable portions of your trip.
PLEASE GO AHEAD and book your hotel rooms IMMEDIATELY upon registering for the workshop. Lodging fills up FAST in this area - especially the 2 lodges.

The closest airport to our destination is Seattle/Tacoma Intenational Airport (SEA). We suggest flying in very early the day of the workshop or possibly the day before. It will be about a 3 hour drive to our starting hotel.
(Flying in the day before would not be a bad idea if you would like to visit a few Seattle attractions like the Space Needle and Chihuly Gardens....or you could choose to do these after the workshop ends on the afternoon of the 18th.)
Car Rental: Each participant will be responsible for their own transportation during the workshop.....although, we may require some carpooling due to parking limitations.
There are major car rental agencies at the off-airport rental facility accessible by shuttle from the airport.
(Please go ahead and book a car rental when you sign up. We suggest NOT paying in advance in case you find someone you would like to share a car with later. )
Exertion: This workshop will have more hiking than most of our workshops. The hikes overall won't be that demanding, except for one hike with a good number of stairs to get up to a waterfall. We suggest that you be able to hike 2-4 miles on natural and uneven ground.
Clothing: Just as most of our workshops require, pack layers. It could be chilly in the mornings and evenings and at the higher elevations. But it could also be in the 70's-80's during the day.
